2 exhibitions of the Pictoplasma Character Walk

opening 17.03.2009, 12.00.
exhibition dates 17.03. - 04.04.2009

W+K Tokyo Lab: Tokyo.Ten

W+K Tokyo Lab is about hybrid culture. It develops new experiences that can only be created here and now in Tokyo, fusing a global mix of music, art, visuals and other forms of expression with a uniquely collaborative approach.

Tokyo.Ten, the 10th release, is a compilation of Book, Blog and DVD that chronicles the entire audiovisual output since W+K Tokyo Lab began five years ago. The exhibition will feature a visual remix of Tokyo Labs work along with new artwork from collaborators both inside and outside of Japan, offering their perspectives on Tokyo and Japanese culture.

I Am 8-bit / Ich bin 8-bit

An international deviation for i am 8-bit, the originator of the infamous "group art show" spectacle, ich bin 8-bit looks to pixels (a.k.a. classically square Post-it Notes) as the ultimate canvas. Featuring a massive, all-enveloping installation by acclaimed artist Jude Buffum, and accompanied by original doodles by some of the most prolific character designers in animation and comics (including Emmy-winners Jorge R. Gutierrez and Sandra Equihua, Gabe Swarr, Jim Mahfood, MyTarPit and others), it's an exhibit within an exhibit. Complete enjoyment only afforded to those attending in-person; Flickr just won't do it justice.

Curated by Love Ablan, Jon M. Gibson, and Derek Puleston.
